Resetting Windows XP Password Without admin Previlages!

Windows XP passwords are very weak compared to Vista. XP passwords can be reset without even having an admin previlage. You can even change the password for the administrator account also. If you have access to any account, the job will be much easier. In the case you dont have access to any account also you can reset any passwords. The steps are below:

Step 1:
Reboot the system and login to safe mode. You can login to safe mode by pressing F8 repeatedly once you turn the computer on until you reach the Windows boot options screen. Select safe mode and press enter.

Step 2:
Once you boot in safe mode you will have an administrator account by default. Many systems that account dont have any passwords or the password will be admin or administrator itself by default.

Step 3:
Login to that account and open the command prompt from start> programs>run and type cmd and hit enter

Step 4:
Now type net user inside the command prompt and enter

Step 5:
Now all the accounts inside that system will be displayed. If you want more details regarding a particular account type net user accountname

Step 6:
Now to reset the password for a particular account type net user accountname * and hit enter. Enter the new password for the account or leave it blank for no password and hit enter. Remember the password you type will not be displayed on the screen. i.e the screen will be blank eventhough you write a password.

Step 7:
Retype the password and hit enter to confirm the change.
